Wishbone Bench

This turning bench for large spaces is called WISHBONE BENCH. Because the proposition of this RED exhibition is five-axis CNC, I want to challenge free-form furniture, especially things that were generally unattainable by three-axis CNC in the past. We were inspired by a lucky bone that whales, chickens and more animals have. Because both Chinese and foreign cultures have the custom of throwing lucky bones, I wanted to make a furniture series that imitates the growth of bones. Bionic design is not only for the pursuit of functions, but also for obtaining a kind of touch and experience that is rarely seen at ordinary times, so as to create an emotional connection between people and furniture.

You might love the subtlety of this bench when you touch its organic details and bolder structure, but it’s not unique. Because products are digitized, they can be mass-produced. These markets, which used to be achieved by craftsmen's handicrafts, but were difficult to mass-produce, have become possible with the promotion of today's five-axis technology.
